Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured a delegation of the Telangana Congress leaders to release 7 TMC of water from Narayanpur Reservoir to meet water shortage in Telangana.
The Congress delegation led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and comprising of K. Jana Reddy, Shabbir Ali, MLAs D.K. Aruna, G. Chinna Reddy, A. Sampath Kumar, Vamshi Chand Reddy, V. Hanumantha Rao among others met Mr. Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru and requested him to release 15 TMC of water from Narayanpur Reservoir.
Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Mr. Siddaramaiah was also requested to expedite the works on Package I and 2 of Rajoulibanda Diversion Scheme whose completion would ensure irrigation water to one lakh acres of land in Mahabubnagar district.
He said that Karnataka Chief Minister gave instructions for release of 7 TMC of water from Narayanapur reservoir and also directed the officials of the neighboring State to speed up the works on RDS. He thanked Mr. Siddaramaiah for accepting the request made by Congress leaders on behalf of people of Telangana. Concerned ministers and officials of Karnataka Government and AICC secretary incharge for Telangana J. Satish were present.
