Uttam Reddy charged that the State is presently being ruled by a new Razakar regime which is crushing people’s voice by use of force.
Speaking after hosting the national flag at Gandhi Bhavan on the occasion of Hyderabad Liberation Day here on Sunday, Mr. Reddy said the tribal farmers of Khammam implicated in false cases, jailed, chained and hand-cuffed for holding a protest against the government, and Dalit people subjected to illegal confinement and third-degree torture for raising their voice against sand mafia are just a reflection of the Razakar mindset of the government.
And now in Tadvai mandal of Bhupalpally district, houses of tribals were demolished and women were tied to trees with their sarees by the police. He said these incidents are a blot on entire civilised society and alleged that the government has given a free hand to the police to suppress people who raise voice against it.
He said some police officials are acting like activists of TRS.
He said there is a need to launch another struggle to free Telangana from the rule of ‘new Razakars’ and appealed to people to unitedly fight against the dictatorial and arrogant regime of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Stating that it was the Congress party that ensured merger of Hyderabad with Indian Union, he asked why Mr. Rao is not celebrating the day officially while he demanded the same during the Telangana agitation, provoking people.
Earlier, Uttam Kumar Reddy and other Congress leaders paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Senior leaders V. Hanumantha Rao, R. Anand Bhaskar, M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, Danam Nagender, Mallu Ravi and Mahila Congress president Nerella Sharada were among present.
