AP MLAs are presently enjoying a four-day vacation from the winter Assembly session in Amaravati, after their request for a ‘mass leave’ was granted by Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.

The reason? According to NDTV, the lawmakers have chosen these four days, as it is considered an ‘auspicious time’, when over 1.2 lakh marriages are held across the state.

The NDTV report adds that at least 100 lawmakers of the ruling TDP had written to the Speaker, following which he acknowledged that “everyone needs to attend weddings and we understand sentiment.”
