The Congress party’s Praja Chaitanya yatra kicked off at Chevella on Monday as thousands of participants cheered the leaders who targeted the government questioning the “family rule and the unfulfilled promises”.
Not only party cadre, but also senior leaders descended on the small town in large numbers to support the bus yatra taken up by Telangana PCC president Uttam Reddy.
Addressing the meeting organised by former minister P. Sabitha Indira Reddy and her son Karthik Reddy, Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy termed the next elections as a fight between “arrogance of KCR’s family and self respect of Telangana people” and also laid a roadmap explaining to people what the Congress would do if voted to power.
He announced that farmers’ loans up to ₹2 lakh would be waived off at one go, while unemployment dole of ₹3,000 given to eligible candidates apart from enhancing the Minimum Support Price for paddy, cotton and other crops including millets.
The fee reimbursement and Arogya Sri that were diluted, would be revived. All the self help groups would get ₹1 lakh fund from the Government as a grant.
Mr. Reddy accused the Chief Minister of failing the farmers and students who dreamt of a better Telangana and said Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had turned the State into a family rule of four. He said the intention behind taking up bus yatra was to expose the failures of TRS Government at the ground level.
Responding to Mr. Karthik Reddy’s request of Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR), he said the project announced by the previous UPA Government would be taken up after Congress returns to power.
Kodangal MLA Revanth Reddy criticized the Chief Minister and IT Minister KTR in his own style and was lustily cheered by the crowds. He said seniors like Uttam Reddy and Jana Reddy may not speak the ‘abusive’ language like KCR and KTR, but leaders like him will give them back in their own style. He assured the party that he would fight with the TRS with the support of all senior leaders.
