The Patanjali Group headed by Acharya Balakrishna on Wednesday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Telangana to set up its own food processing unit at the Special Economic Zone, Lakkampally in Nandipet mandal in the district.
Patanjali Group CEO Balakrishna and State Government authorities signed the MoU in the presence of MP K. Kavitha and Baba Ramdev at the group’s headquarters at Haridwar of Uttarakhand. MLA Armoor A. Jeevan Reddy, TSIIC managing director E.V. Narsimha Reddy and Nandipet mandal local representatives were present. Mr. Balakrishna, during his visit last November to the SEZ explored the possibilities of setting up a unit to manufacture and process turmeric, chilli, maize and soya products by collecting the locally raised crops.
Since the four crops are grown abundantly in Armoor, Balkonda and Nizamabad constituencies and elsewhere in the old district, if the Pathanjali group procures them farmers would get remunerative prices for their produce avoiding the middlemen.
Ms. Kavitha, who had gone to Haridwar on the invitation of Baba Ramdev, went round the food processing and ayurveda medicine manufacturing and packing units in the ashramam.
